Ron Mueck's Creativity and Dedication to Artwork

Ron Mueck's Astonishingly Amazing Detailed Sculpture

Mueck, Ron (1958- ) Ron Mueck is a London-based photo-realist artist.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, to parents who were toy makers, he labored on children’s television shows for 15 years before working in special effects for such films as “Labyrinth,” a 1986 fantasy epic starring David Bowie.

Muek then started his own company in London, making models to be photographed for advertisements. He has lots of the dolls he made during his advertising years stored in his home. Although some still have, he feels, “a presence on their own,” many were made just to be photographed from a particular angle—”one strip of a face,” for example, with a lot of loose material lurking an inch outside the camera’s frame.

Eventually Mueck concluded that photography pretty much destroys the physical “presence” of the original object, and so he turned to fine art and sculpture. In the early 1990s, still in his advertising days, Mueck was commissioned to make something highly realistic, and was wondering what material would do the trick. Latex was the usual, but he wanted something harder, more precise. Luckily, he saw a little architectural decor on the wall of a boutique and inquired as to the nice, pink stuff’s nature.

Fiberglass resin was the answer, and Mueck has made it his bronze and marble ever since. In the three years since his participation in Sensation: Works from the Saatchi Collection, Mueck has posted shows at major galleries in New York, Germany, not to mention selection for the London Millenium Dome and now his work is the subject of a solo exhibition at that city’s highest profile contemporary art space, Anthony d’Offay gallery.
Through his detailed works, which are always either smaller than life size or monumental, Mueck explores the ambiguous relationship of reality to artifice through strategies of imitation and illusion. His pieces are sculpted with polyester resin (fiberglass) and silicone, which is more flexible and allows greater ease in shaping body parts and implanting hair.

WARNING!
before you read on...
brace yourself and get ready for a wild ride! lolz.

some of the art work can be a little bit disturbing for some.

but well, it's ART. i mean... look at their aesthetic value. ^^ enjoy and appreciate the creativity.

freewriting

from within... emotions in a state of turbulence.
aN energy is trying to escape, from the confined space.
yet it is entrapped within..

not knowing that the invisible barrier that stands between itself and freedom is mere imagination, mere production of something called "belief".

the kind of belief that is instilled subconsciously.
always dreading for the worst, it started to learn of losing hope.
never trying to look beyond to see what it may be able to reach, it is bounded.
never taught of how to see everything from other perspective, it enclosed itself in the small sphere it knew so well.

never being introduced to the greater part of life, it thought what it knew and saw and heard and felt is real, and is the only truth.

should it be worry? worry for knowing only a small part of life, which it is introduced to, within the sphere it knew so well?

Dating...

Dating Dos
Be attentive to your date.
If you listen to your date, they think you're interesting even though you haven't actually said anything. Just keep asking questions and they'll think you're brilliant and fascinating.

Maintain eye contact.
Just make sure it's not too intense. Remember, you aren't a hawk eyeing it's prey.

Plan your date out ahead of time.
Avoid falling into the vicious cycle of saying, "I don't know, what do you want to do?" Decide on something and do it. Be open to other suggestions if your plans don't work out.

Meet in a public place on your first date.
Not only is this a safe idea, it also allows for distractions should conversation lag. Leave the one-on romantic dates for when you really feel you are into a person.

Offer to split the bill.

The issue of "who pays" is probably one of the largest sources of confusion for singles. Most people today feel that the bill is the responsibility of the party that asked for the date. That said, it is courteous to offer to "go Dutch" and you should always be prepared to split the costs. If your date does pick up the tab, offer to pay the next time.

Act chivalrous.
Men, the women's liberation movement may have provided women with the means to financial independence and positions of power, but this does not mean that she no longer appreciates those little things that make you a gentlemen.
Open doors for your date, pull out her chair for her, make sure she gets home safely.
These are the things that make a good impression. If used correctly, chivalry is the charm of all charms; if overused, it seems like machismo.

Follow up with your date.
Call or email your date to let them know you had a good time. This doesn't have to be a plea to see them again right away. It's simply a courtesy. If your date had an enjoyable time too, this will be icing on the cake!

Crack jokes.
Not only will this put your date at ease, it will show them you have a sense of humor.

Discuss heavier topics.
Let's face it, some people SHOULD stick to small talk, but if you're informed on a topic, go ahead and discuss it.
If you find some topics appropriate and your date finds them taboo, it may be better to realize this early on.

Dating Don'ts
Don't act distracted during a date.
Turn off your cell phone and keep your eyes from wandering.
Nothing will show a greater lack of interest on your part than fielding phone calls and checking out the waitstaff.

Don't turn your date into a therapy session.
Avoid subjects like your ex, your bad relationship with your mother or your growing sense of insecurity over the strange growth you've discovered on your back.

Don't be pretentious.
Be real.
Nobody is perfect and nothing is more annoying than someone who acts like they are.

Don't agree for the sake of agreeing.
It's important to stand your ground and let your date know where you stand on certain topics. The point is getting to know one another. Most people enjoy intellectual argument, as long as you avoid insulting your date's intelligence.

Don't try to make any uninvited physical advances.
There are so many different opinions on what is acceptable, physically, on a date.
if there is chemistry, the physical aspects of a relationship will fall into place. If things feel right, then hold hands, kiss, whatever feels right. Nothing is worse, though, than a first date who is way too into PDA (public displays of affection). It's sort of like they are staking their claim, which is a major turn-off.

Women, don't be afraid to ask a man for a date.
In fact, many men find a woman who will make the first move attractive and confident.
You can invite the guy to something you are going to anyway, like a concert, so it's like you are asking them to come along.

Don't consume large amounts of alcohol.
You should not drink and date. and you know why.

Don't be afraid to end the date early.
If things aren't working out or you are uncomfortable, feel free to end the date at any time.

there's always unspoken rules on everything. at times, we are just expected to watch and learn from mistakes.

you know how we worked during PC Fair? about 45 people in one medium booth, what with narrow and confined space to move along as we rush to get the requested stock by our respectful customers. (customer first).

checking out the price list... before making enquires for purchasing.
two of the cashiers... they were always UBER busy.
the chaos... it was all chaos.

the "store-room" which situated at the middle of the booth we were at. all sales person were to YELL for whichever product requested by the customers. and the guy in RED is MR. LIM, who in charged of assembling hardwares and of course, as the middle man to pass us the stocks we needed.

the other 3 girls- the cashiers- the ultimate. LOLz they in charge of all the money in and out.

the branch manager of Lau Yat MTec- Wai Leng (sat facing front)

it was VERY crowded.
and finally... group photo...
additional sales force- part timers.

the full timers of MTec.
they are all great people. looking for low price but good quality hardwares? or planning to set up a new system? go for Mtec @ Lau Yat 3rd Floor. =) the sales person gives pretty good advice on computing too.
p/s: photo accreditation to Wai Sing.
